PENAL ENFORCEMENT AND SECURITY SERVICES PROGRAM-1

  • About Program
  • Penal Enforcment and Security Services Program (both normal and the evening education programmes!) as the youngest program of the Vocational School of Justice is opened in the academic year 2017-2018
  • Goals
  • To educate vocationally the future prison staff called as the enforcement security officers having the necessary knowledge and skills as required by the Turkish penal enforcement institutions. 
  • PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES
    • Has the necessary knowledge on Turkish Penal and Justice System and its functioning.
    • Has knowledge on the duties and responsibilities of government officers and on vocational ethics.
    • Can recognise national judicial informatics system and use the other software used in penal institutions.
    • Has a knowledge of correspondence rules.
    • Has a knowledge on prison security and the use of various materials and equipment existing in penal institutions for ensuring security.
    • Knows rules and procedures regarding relations with prisoners and detainees.
    • Has knowledge on the basic concepts of  General  Law of and  the basic characteristics of the major legal disciplines
    • Is aware of the duties  and responsibilities of civil servants as well as vocational ethics,
    • Knows the penal system, penalties and characteristics related to crime and delinquency,
    • Has the necessary skills  to use basic informatics systems  that meets their needs.
    • Uses national judiciary  infomatics system in criminal execution institutions.
    • Solves the execution problems which are open with the basic execution information about the penalty execution system.
    • Knows general administrative practices and related documents related to execution procedures
    • Has a general knowledge on the Penal Law.
    • Carries out activities for the development of team members working under the responsibility of a project.
    • Evaluates knowledge and skills related to criminal enforcement issues with a critical approach.
    • Directs its education to a higher level law education level or to justice assistant services.
    • Has consciousness on life-long learning
    • Uses computer software and information and communication technologies
    • Monitors and communicates with colleagues.
    • Has the consciousness of honesty, justice and ethics that his profession requires.
    • May direct the employees under the responsibility for resolving the problems in the field of criminal and executions.
    • Can operate jointly with different disciplines related to the field of security services
    • Has sufficient awareness of occupational health and safety issues.
    • Behave in accordance with the psychology of prisoners, detainees and juvenile convicts
    • Admission Requirements
    • The student who want to enroll in this department, have to complete processes which determined by university’s academic and judicial statute and have to achieve exams. The student who started his/her education in domestic or abroad, can make application for lateral transfer. Acceptance of students are examine considering each student’s conditions and application’s degree before season starting and evaluate peculiarly. Further introduction is present about entrance to university in Institute introduction’s catalogue.  
    • Graduation Requirements
    • The students studying in this program are required to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (Cum.GPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00 and have completed all the courses with at least a letter grade of C3/2.00 in the program in order to graduate. The minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 120. It is also mandatory for the students to complete their compulsory internship in a specified duration and quality.
    • Occupational Profile of Graduates
    • The graduates of the enforcement and security services program shall be employed by the penal institutions and probation directorates governed by Directorate General For Prisons And Detention Houses of the Ministry of Justice as enforcement security officers, probation officers or perimeter prison security officers.

     

    • Access to Further Studies
    • Graduates are also entitled to register in the Department of Public Management of the Open Education Faculties within the University of Anatolia to complete their undergraduate degree by taking the required courses. Additionally, graduates who like to continue their higher education are also entitled to apply for undergraduate programs such as, public administration, public relations and political sciences programs at various Faculties according to their transfer exam score (DGS).
